Crucial customer experience trends and key insights to guide our next UX direction for the upcoming 3 to 5 years.

Let's take a look at the transition in HW, SW, in particular, the evolution of user interaction in mobile devices, and above all, the expansion of usage patterns and users' capability when utilizing these tools. We all know that in the past decade in the mobile industry, the major methods for interaction have been 'touch', 'mouse' and 'keyboard input' for visual and auditory outputs. However, in the next 3 to 5 years, we will need to pay more attention to diverse forms like 'gesture', 'voice', and even natural combination of the traditional input methods.

Expanded experience in space beyond the screen

The concept of an extended screen and more natural interaction will lead people to immerse themselves into the contents in explosive way, and creating contents to satisfy those demands will become more important accordingly. Also, if you look at how people communicate and use devices, it used to be one way of communication, get narrow scope of information in a passive way focused just around myself. As smartphones have become widespread and the development of Internet and network technology, two-way real-time interactions became common. In the future, these powerful devices will offer more and bigger screens. Then, beyond the physical limits, space will soon become a screen. Also, they will always be connected and integrated.

Access and transition to space anytime, anywhere

You know, there are a lot of emerging virtual platforms, and people tend to move around the digital spaces for communicating, playing games, shopping, travel, or just for killing time. As we move back and forth between the ever-growing number of virtual and social platforms, we're going to want to be able to convert better and keep the way we've been using it.

Creating numerous identities of 'my-selves'

In addition, many means of fluid transitions will come alive among mobile devices, surrounding environments, virtual spaces, groups and individuals, and so on. Moreover, we've started creating numerous identities of 'my-selves' in game, social media, and entertainment, and we are experiencing simultaneous, yet virtual 'me‘ communication on various platforms. Also, mutual interactions among multiple 'me's will be expected to happen at the same time, but more realistic life-like ways with multiple groups. Not only the experiences will be optimized for me, but I will be creating multiple identities for myself, which will become more and more common in the virtual world.

“Immersion & Creation, Fluidic transition, multiple me and sustainable changes”, these are the core areas we should look in depth when approaching our Next UX. We are here to discuss and prepare for N+3, however let's keep in mind that each topic will confront a very significant momentum over the next 3 to 7 years.
